According to the data released by the Association of British Automobile Manufacturers and Traders(SMMT)on Friday, vehicle sales in the UK in January were basically the same year on year, down only 0.3%to 68575 vehicles.
This means that the output in January was only 215 units lower than the same period last year, mainly due to structural changes, reflecting the impact of a major factory’s shift from car production to truck production.
The shift to electric vehicle production continues, with the total output of pure electric,plug-in hybrid and hybrid vehicles increasing by 49.9%to 28329 vehicles in January. This means that more than 4 out of every 10 vehicles produced in the UK in January are new energy vehicles(41.3%).
