The Huawei Green ICT Development Summit was held in Barcelona today.Peng Song,president of Huawei ICT Strategy and Marketing,delivered a keynote speech on”green development without choice”.Peng Song pointed out that a new round of AI explosion is taking place.The boom and development of AI brings new benefits to operators,and also puts forward new requirements for ICT infrastructure.At the same time,larger bandwidth and stronger computing power will inevitably lead to the rapid growth of network energy consumption.”Whether to be green or to develop seems to be a difficult choice for the ICT industry,but we believe that we should choose’no choice’.Both green and development are necessary,”Peng Song said.
At present,we can gradually achieve the balance between ICT green and development by taking into account the three dimensions of energy efficiency,renewable energy utilization rate and user experience.At the MWC2023 exhibition,Huawei also launched solutions around these concepts,contributing to the green development of ICT infrastructure.
Energy efficiency dimension:from only focusing on improving network energy efficiency to reducing absolute energy consumption at the same time.For low-load scenarios,multi-dimensional turn-off technology can be used to realize intelligent turn-off not only in frequency domain and time domain,but also in various dimensions such as channel and power.For the ultra-low load scenario,realize the”extreme sleep”of the equipment,for example,solve the condensation and low temperature problems when the AAU hardware is turned off by using new materials and new processes,only keep the power module standby,and reduce the power consumption of the AAU under extremely low load from 300W to less than 10W.
Renewable energy dimension:from only focusing on the scale of green power deployment to taking into account the use efficiency of renewable energy.In terms of space,from one network one policy to one station one policy,to improve the accuracy of renewable energy deployment.In terms of time,realize intelligent scheduling from day level to minute level to maximize the economic and green benefits of renewable energy.By sensing the multi-dimensional information of the site such as weather,electricity price,battery status,business volume,and using intelligent scheduling algorithms,the optimal generation efficiency,comprehensive power cost,and load-based power availability of renewable energy in the whole station can be achieved.
In the user experience dimension:from only focusing on network energy conservation and KPI guarantee to taking into account user experience guarantee at the same time.Formulate the optimal energy saving strategy for different network scenarios:in low traffic scenarios,ensure the most basic network KPI to achieve maximum energy saving;In high-traffic scenarios,the user experience is also guaranteed.Experience driven is upgraded to data driven to realize the generation of energy saving strategies at the minute level and the distribution of optimization strategies at the millisecond level.
Peng Song stressed that Huawei continued to iterate green solutions based on the coexistence concept of the above three dimensions,and officially released Huawei’s”Green 1-2-3″solution.”1″means a set of indicator system for building a network around green development,”2″refers to two scenarios of high energy efficiency and ultra-low energy consumption,and”3″refers to a systematic solution from three levels of site,network and operation construction.Huawei is willing to work with global operators to achieve the balance between green and development and accelerate the green development process of ICT.
